WE'RE HIRING · 8 OPEN ROLES

Help us build the workflow runtime AI teams actually want to use.

Hatch is a 32-person team in Brooklyn and Berlin building the orchestration layer for AI-native products. 250+ teams already run on us — Series A in the bag, Series C next year if we keep shipping. We're hiring across engineering, design, product, and go-to-market. Comp bands are public. Process takes 14 days.

OUR MISSION

Most AI tools are demos. We're building the boring infrastructure underneath them.

The flashy parts of AI get the headlines — model releases, benchmark wins, demo-day videos. The unglamorous parts decide whether a product actually ships: how do you queue a million long-running workflows, retry the failed ones intelligently, version the prompts so a rollback isn't a disaster, log everything for the post-mortem. Those are the parts Hatch builds. Plain runtime. Honest documentation. Predictable bills. No magic.

HOW WE WORK

Three principles that decide what we ship.

01

Ship the smallest version that's true.

Our customers are AI engineers — they smell launch-marketing from across the room. We ship the version that works on the gnarly real example, not the version that demos cleanly. If we can't write the README in 60 lines, we haven't finished thinking.

02

Reading code is the job.

Every engineer reads the runtime end to end in their first two weeks — including ICs in design and product. The codebase is a hundred thousand lines; one engineer can hold the whole shape in their head. We protect that on purpose. Comments explain why, not what.

03

Wages are public.

Comp bands are on every job post. Equity ranges are on every job post. No negotiation theater, no "what's your number" games, no $80k spread between two people doing the same work. We tell you the band, you tell us if it's worth it.

BENEFITS & POLICIES

What we pay for, in concrete numbers.

Competitive cash + meaningful equity

Cash bands are top-of-market for the role. Equity ranges 0.1%–0.6% depending on level. Bands are public on every job post — no "competitive" hand-waving.

16 weeks parental leave

Full pay for the primary caregiver, 8 weeks for the secondary, no gender distinction. Phased return — 60% for the first month back is paid the same. Three people on the team have taken it; ask them.

$3,000/year learning budget

Books, courses, conferences, paid newsletters. No approval needed under $500; quick Slack thread for anything bigger. Half the team uses it on conference travel; the other half buys a lot of books.

Remote-OK + quarterly offsites

Work from a hub office (Brooklyn or Berlin) or fully remote — your call. We bring everyone together in person four times a year: two weeks at HQ, two long weekends somewhere new. Flights and hotel covered.

palmtree

5 weeks vacation + holidays

Five weeks PTO (25 days) plus federal / public holidays in your country. We track it. We require you to take at least 15 days — Mei publicly shames people who don't.

Premium health, dental, vision

US: 100% premium coverage for you + dependents on a Cigna PPO. Dental + vision included. EU: top private health on top of the public system. Mental health budget either side: $200/month, no questions.

OUR PROCESS

Four steps. Two weeks. No surprises.

We read every application. The working session is paid (for non-engineering roles) or take-home (for engineering). Offer within 7 days of the working session — or a quick "not this time" note. We do not ghost.

01

Apply

Send your LinkedIn, portfolio (if relevant), resume, and answer the "why this role" prompt. We read every one within 5 business days.

02

Intro call

30 minutes with the hiring manager. What you've shipped, what you'd want to ship at Hatch, comp clarity, your real questions. Camera-on, no script.

Week 1

03

Working session

Engineering: 4-hour take-home using a real Hatch problem. Non-engineering: 90-minute live session with the team, paid at $300. The actual work of the job, not trivia.

Week 2

04

Offer

Within 7 days of the working session. Comp matches the band on the role page — no negotiation theater. You get 7 days to decide; we hold the role for you.

Day 14

Joined as employee #11. Eighteen months later I've shipped three things I'm proud of, taken twelve days fully off, and never once watched someone in a meeting ask another person to justify their job. The bar here is high and weirdly low-stress.
